Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in association with Dr. Saud Al-Ammari Law Firm (Blakes), a leading business law firm, announced the further strengthening of its team in the Gulf region with the admission of Mr. Tim Sunar to the partnership of the Firm. Blakes has an office in Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and an office in Manama, Bahrain, through its affiliation with the law firm of Dr. Saud Al-Ammari.

Mr. Sunar joined Blakes in 2006, first in its Toronto office and then as part of the team which established the Firm's presence in the Gulf region in 2009. His practice focuses primarily on advising clients on a range of commercial transactions with an emphasis on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, international joint ventures, and reorganizations. Among the Firm’s various clients, he advises multinationals, family businesses and institutional investors active across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions, including with respect to investments inbound to and outbound from these markets.

Mr. Sunar is recognized in Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business 2013 (Corporate & Finance). He has received client praise in Chambers Global for his attention to detail and quality of service and has been described as "an amazing young lawyer who is extremely astute, picks up things right away and delivers solutions immediately."

Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Saud Al-Ammari, Chair, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & Gulf Region at Blakes, said, "Needless to say, the Partners of the Firm are proud of Tim’s hard-earned achievements and are very pleased to see the deserved recognition for his high-quality work, commitment to clients and the Firm as well as his exceptional teamwork skills.”

The Gulf, where Blakes now has a team comprised of 21 members, continues to form an important growth market for the Firm and is a region, along with MENA more broadly, where it has developed unique expertise in corporate, oil and gas, petrochemical, mergers and acquisitions, project development and financing, and regulatory and dispute resolution matters.

To continue to build on the Firm’s regional expertise and growing presence, Blakes is committed not only to the continued strengthening of its team, but also, as importantly, to building a team that is an effective mix of local and Western-qualified lawyers capable of meeting client needs on both a regional and global scale.
