Blakes Partner Tara Piurko has been named as the first Canadian President of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network.

CREW is a leading global network of more than 10,000 members focused on providing networking and leadership opportunities to assist women in commercial real estate in advancing their careers.

Tara, a Partner in our Commercial Real Estate (CRE) group, was announced as President at the CREW Network convention in Houston, Texas, this week and will officially lead the organization from January 2018.

“I’m honoured to be the next president of CREW Network, an organization that has played such an important role in both my personal and professional life,” said Tara. “CREW Network is experiencing tremendous growth and momentum, and our voice is being heard. People are noticing and our industry is noticing. I look forward to working with our members and partners to engage, connect and advance the achievements of women and, in turn, our industry.”

Tara first joined CREW as a member of its Toronto chapter in 2007 and was elected to its board of directors in 2012. She then went on to serve as President of Toronto CREW in 2014, before being appointed as a Director on the 2016 CREW Network Board.

Tara has been practising CRE law for more than 15 years. She is part of one of the largest CRE practices in Canada, offering seamless service on a complete spectrum of transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, financing, development and leasing.
