  • Safeway Inc. on the C$5.8-billion sale of its Canadian operations to Sobeys Inc. 
  • Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company, as borrower, on a syndicated loan financing of a US$5.2-billion expansion of an existing, world-scale petroleum refining and petrochemicals complex in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia. 
  • Suncor Energy Inc. in connection with its C$5-billion revolving syndicated credit facilities provided by a Royal Bank of Canada-led lender syndicate. 
  • National Bank of Canada, as agent, regarding the C$3.2-billion corporate financing of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.
  • Encana Corporation in connection with the US$3-billion amendment and restatement of its existing restated credit agreement with a syndicate of financial institutions, as lenders, and Royal Bank of Canada, as administrative agent. 
  • JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., as agent, regarding a US$3-billion credit facility provided to Teck Resources Limited. 
  • Standard Chartered Bank, as lender, in connection with a US$3-billion revolving amended and restated credit facility for First Quantum Minerals Ltd. 
  • Iron Mountain Corporation, as borrower, on a US$1.75-billion revolving and term credit facility obtained by a group of lenders led by JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. 
  • Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, as agent, on a C$1.7-billion credit facility provided to Richardson International. 
  • Linamar Corporation on its C$1.55-billion unsecured credit facility composed of a C$600-million non-revolving term credit facility and a C$950-million revolving credit facility provided to Linamar Corporation by a syndicate of lenders. 
  • Intact Financial Corporation on its acquisition of AXA’s Canadian insurance business and on its C$1.55-billion in credit facilities with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. 
  • Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce on its C$1.25-billion senior secured credit facility in favour of Stantec Inc. to finance its acquisition of MWH Global, Inc. 
  • Bank of Nova Scotia, as administrative agent, in connection with a revolving letter of credit facility for Teck Resources Limited in the amount of US$1.2-billion.
  • Loan Star Funds, as borrower, in connection with a US$1.045-billion loan comprising a US$635-million senior lien term loan, a US$260-million junior lien term loan and a US$150-million asset-based revolving loan. 
  • JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., as agent, in connection with a US$1-billion credit facility provided to LKO Corporation and certain of its subsidiaries. 
  • National Bank of Canada, as agent, on a C$1-billion corporate financing of Alimentation Couche-Tard. 
  • Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership, as borrower, on a C$750-million credit facility and an uncommitted expansion facility of up to C$500-million with The Bank of Nova Scotia. 
  • JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., as agent, regarding a US$900-million credit facility provided to Hillenbrand, Inc. 
  • IAMGOLD Corporation on its US$850-million syndicated credit facility provided by a group of lenders led by National Bank. 
  • Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada, as funder, on the establishment of various facilities that provide for the purchase of up to C$650-million lease and loan receivables of Maxium Financial Services Inc. 
  • Royal Bank of Canada and Standard Chartered Bank, as co-lead arrangers, in connection with a US$640-million senior secured credit facility to finance the acquisition by Harry Winston Diamond Corporation of the diamond assets of BHP Billiton. 
  • GM Financial Canada Leasing Ltd., as borrower, GMF Canada Leasing Trust, as lender and issuer, in connection with a C$600-million lease securitization with FinanciaLinx Corporation, as servicer, BNY Trust Company of Canada, as indenture trustee, and BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. and Deutsche Bank AG, Canada Branch, as initial purchasers. 
  • Canadian Tire Corporation on its agreement with Scotiabank regarding a strategic partnership that will see Scotiabank acquire a 20 per cent equity interest in Canadian Tire’s financial services business for C$500-million in cash. 
  • Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, as administrative agent, together with Desjardins Capital Markets, as co-lead arrangers and joint bookrunners, and Desjardins Capital Markets, as syndication agent, in connection with a C$500-million senior secured credit facility to finance the acquisition by Leon’s Furniture Limited of The Brick Ltd. 
  • National Bank of Canada in connection with a US$275-million senior secured credit facility by a syndicate of lenders with National Bank of Canada and Bank of Nova Scotia as co-lead arrangers with respect to the acquisition of Niobec Inc. from IAMGOLD Corporation. 
  • HSBC Canada on its US$240-million senior secured syndicated credit facility provided to Avigilon Corporation by a group of lenders led by HSBC Bank Canada.
