Kiran has a broad commercial litigation practice. He has been involved in a variety of cases including litigation relating to major construction projects, public procurement processes, securities class actions and complex contractual disputes. Kiran has represented clients at all levels of courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before administrative tribunals and international commercial arbitration panels. He also regularly provides pro bono legal services at the Small Claims Court in Toronto.

Prior to joining Blakes, Kiran spent three years as a management consultant at a global consulting firm, working primarily for clients in the pharmaceutical and financial services industries.

In 2009/10, Kiran clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, where he worked on a variety of cases in the areas of commercial, constitutional and criminal law.

  • Counsel to Visa Canada Corporation in a major resale price maintenance hearing before the Competition Tribunal of Canada
  • Counsel to a large global mining client in an International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration involving the performance and termination of international supply agreements
  • Counsel to the administrator of a public pension plan in a commercial leasing dispute involving the interpretation of a retail lease at a major shopping center
  • Counsel to an investment banking boutique and one of its principals in a successful motion to stay proceedings based on jurisdictional grounds
  • Counsel to an online media company in a proceeding before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario relating to the enforcement of online user forum rules
