Morgan's practice encompasses all aspects of commercial real estate in Alberta, including acquisitions and related acquisition mortgage financing, dispositions, and development. Morgan also regularly advises landlords and tenants in respect of the leasing and subleasing of commercial office space, shopping centres, and industrial properties. In his real estate practice, Morgan acts for broad range of clients, including conventional and renewable energy companies, life insurance companies, pension funds, REITS, mortgage lenders, major commercial landlords, and other institutional developers and investors.

Morgan also maintains a construction and infrastructure practice. He has developed specialized expertise in industry-standard EPC/EPCM, design-build and other construction contracts, as well as the negotiation and preparation of documentation in respect of various public-private partnership (P3) infrastructure projects.

  • Weyerhaeuser Inc. with Canadian real-property-related matters connected to its disposition of its pulp business to International Paper Company for US$2.2-billion
  • Agrium Inc. with Canadian real-property related matters connected to its C$1.8-billion supported funding of Glencore International PLC's C$6.1-billion acquisition of Viterra Inc., and the subsequent acquisition by Agrium of Viterra's wholesale and retail agri-products division
  • Nexus REIT (formerly Edgefront REIT) in connection with the acquisition, financing and leaseback of over C$155-million of industrial properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories

  • GWL Realty Advisors Inc. and QuadReal Property Group Limited Partnership on the development and construction of a mixed-use high-rise project combining a 34-storey, 390-suite hotel tower and a 300-unit multi-residential tower

  • BluEarth Renewables Inc. on the development and project financing of a 33 MW hydroelectric facility in British Columbia, including working with private landowners, governmental departments and First Nations to secure project consents, licences, land rights and approvals for development, construction and operation

  • GWL Realty Advisors Inc. and its pension fund investor clients on the C$105-milllion purchase of First & Jasper, a redeveloped class "A" office and retail complex in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, and related mortgage financing

  • American private-equity real-estate firm in certain acquisition, disposition and mortgage financing transactions relating to approximately 30 gas service stations in Alberta

  • Calgary-based energy services company in the acquisition of industrial properties in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan for C$18.6-million

  • Assisting a multinational energy-technology company secure long-term leasing of over 67,000 sq. ft. of industrial premises in Calgary, as well as the additional subleasing of over 14,000 sq. ft. for short-term use

  • Assisting in the preparation of an EPC contract and other related agreements with respect to a C$230-million expansion of the processing and liquids extraction capacity of a natural-gas-processing plant in west-central Alberta
  • Working with lenders in connection with the financing of a large Alberta wind-farm project with a projected generating capacity of 300 MW
  • Representing a large Alberta-based energy company in the sale of private lands valued at approximately C$9.3-million to an Alberta-based utility company
