Bill focuses his litigation practice on corporate/commercial matters including insolvency and restructuring, corporate/commercial disputes and real estate matters. He appears before all levels of the court system in British Columbia, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada and numerous administrative tribunals and private arbitration panels, on a wide variety of matters relating to corporate/commercial law, bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring matters.

  • Counsel to Catalyst Paper Corporation in Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) restructuring proceedings
  • Counsel to Crew Gold in a successful appeal related to the application of shareholder dissent rights under an arrangement
  • Advising numerous Boards of Directors of both public and private companies on specific liability issues and in particular liability issues arising in circumstances of corporate insolvency
  • Successful defence of the former owner of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team and arena in an action to overturn a transaction to sell an interest in the team and arena
  • Counsel for Cascade Divide Enterprises Inc. in a successful application for injunctive and other relief related to disputes arising from the sale of a business
  • Successfully defended Endeavour Financial Corporation in an application alleging certain breaches of the British Columbia Securities Act in respect of the acquisition of shares of Crew Gold Corporation
  • Counsel for Cactus Club Restaurants Ltd. in its successful defence of a landlord/tenant claim, an intellectual property and contract claims against a competitor, and a judicial review and appeal of a tribunal decision under the Liquor Control Act
