Alexandra's practice includes corporate/commercial law and administrative law, with a particular emphasis on securities litigation, and shareholder disputes. She has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court, the British Columbia Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before a number of administrative tribunals, including the British Columbia Securities Commission and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada.

Alexandra has significant experience attacking and defending hostile bids on behalf of acquirers or targets and has also provided assistance to companies in respect of proxy battles and contested shareholder meetings. She regularly advises on compliance with regulatory legislation and provides support to corporations responding to regulatory investigations related to both domestic and international anticorruption matters. She also has experience conducting independent investigations on behalf of corporate clients, advising creditors on matters involving the Personal Property Security Act, and representing manufacturers in product liability disputes.


Alexandra's representative experience includes:

  • Successfully defending a bidder in an application alleging certain breaches of the British Columbia Securities Act in respect of the acquisition of shares of a target corporation
  • Successfully defending allegations brought by a competing bidder that a take-over bid circular contained material disclosure deficiencies
  • Clarifying the obligations of staff at the British Columbia Securities Commission in disclosing documents to a respondent in the context of inter-jurisdictional investigations
  • Successfully defending an investment dealer before the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada
  • Obtaining court approval of plans of arrangement and corporate reorganizations
  • Conducting international anticorruption investigations and due diligence for multinational clients
  • Challenging a municipal bylaw before the Supreme Court of Canada
