Ed Kroft leads our Tax Controversy & Litigation Group. He has appeared before various Canadian courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of British Columbia. He regularly represents clients, including major Canadian and foreign corporations, in tax disputes involving the Canada Revenue Agency and other tax authorities. These disputes deal with domestic and cross-border issues such as transfer pricing, treaty interpretation and tax avoidance. Ed provides legal services through Edwin G. Kroft Law Corporation.

  • In November 2016, Ed was one of 17 individuals who received the Canadian Tax Foundation's first annual Lifetime Contribution Award. This prestigious award recognizes exceptional contributions to the Tax Foundation and the Canadian tax community since 1945.
  • In 2012, Ed was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal to recognize his significant contributions to the work of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
  • Ed was also the 2006 recipient of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Award for Excellence in Income Tax Practice and Education for outstanding contribution to the profession and the Canadian Tax Community.
  • In 2002, he was awarded an honorary CGA (now CPA (Hon.)) designation by the Certified General Accountants Association of British Columbia for outstanding contributions to the Association.
