Erin's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, white collar crime and regulatory defence. Erin has appeared as counsel at all levels of courts in Ontario, at the Supreme Court of Canada, and the Federal Court of Canada, as well as before arbitration panels and administrative tribunals.

Erin's experience includes advising and acting for clients in business disputes, defence of regulatory charges, internal investigations, constitutional law matters, class actions, contract and negligence cases, and defamation actions. She has represented clients in complex contractual disputes, including in the infrastructure and procurement context. In her media practice, Erin has defended defamation claims and opposed orders restricting public access to the courts.

Erin also has extensive experience addressing complex questions of conflict of laws in litigation and transactions involving cross-border issues.


A representative list of Erin's cases includes acting for:

  • Acting for leading corporations in fraud recovery actions, including obtaining and enforcing Mareva injunctions and certificates of pending litigation

  • Defending persons alleged to have committed regulatory offences, including before the Ontario Court of Justice and Ontario Securities Commission

  • Acting for a party to an arbitration concerning alleged breach of a P3 contract

  • Advising on and conducting internal investigations, including assessment of potential regulatory breaches and litigation risk, resolutions and ongoing risk management

  • Representing a leading corporation in a multimillion-dollar contractual dispute between limited partners concerning informational entitlements and annual distributions

  • Counsel to Torstar Corp. in Grant v. Torstar, in which the Supreme Court of Canada adopted a new defence to libel, public interest responsible communication

  • Corporations in relation to a variety of commercial claims, including breach of contract, economic torts and oppression
