Jamie practises Canadian corporate and securities law with a focus on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. He is U.S. Coordinator of the Firm's Private Equity group and is a relationship partner for a number of the Firm's private equity and corporate clients. Jamie was most recently recognized as a leading M&A lawyer in Who’s Who Legal: M&A and Governance 2017.

In his mergers and acquisitions practice, Jamie regularly acts for private equity funds, corporations, hedge funds and investment banks with respect to public and private acquisition and investment transactions in Canada. He also advises U.S., Canadian and international private equity sponsors and some of the largest North American pension plans in the structuring and negotiation of private equity fund investment and co-investment transactions and in respect of regulatory and securities matters relating to sponsor fundraising in Canada.

Jamie practised law in Toronto before moving to New York in 2005.

  • Lead Canadian counsel to American Securities in its acquisitions of Henry Company LLC, Chromaflo Technologies Corp., Ulterra Drilling Technologies, L.P. and in its US$860-million sale of General Chemical Corporation to Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund
  • Lead Canadian counsel to Apax Partners in its acquisition of Ideal Protein
  • Lead Canadian counsel to Centerbridge Partners in its acquisition of KIK Custom Products
  • Lead Canadian counsel to Fremont Private Holdings in its investment in the Flynn Group
  • Advised UnitedHealth Group on its subsidiary OptumRx's US$12.8-billion acquisition of Catamaran Corporation
  • Counsel to Global Infrastructure Partners on certain Canadian investments
  • Lead Canadian counsel to Providence Equity on its acquisitions of Amicus Attorney, Pointstreak Sports Technologies and Goalline
