Andrew'’s practice covers a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, corporate governance, and drafting and negotiating various forms of commercial agreements. Andrew has experience acting for domestic and international clients in a variety of sectors, including the manufacturing, agribusiness, life sciences, financial services, and technology sectors.

Andrew completed the JD program at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he received the W. Struan Robertson, Q.C. Memorial Prize for combining academic excellence with involvement in extracurricular activities, as well as the Dean's Letter Recognizing Cumulative Overall Excellence. Prior to studying law, he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University, graduating with First Class Honours, and earning a Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility.

Andrew first joined Blakes as a summer student in 2013 and later completed his articles at the Firm. During his articles, Andrew was seconded to the legal department of a leading medical devices company, where he was involved in a broad range of regulatory and commercial matters.

  • McKeil Marine on its sale to TorQuest Partners

  • RR Donnelley, as Canadian counsel, on the restructuring of its Canadian business in preparation for the spin-offs of its publishing and retail-centric print services and office products business and its financial communications and data service business.

  • Agrium Inc. on its proposed US$38-billion merger of equals with Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc.

  • Echelon Wealth Partners in connection with the acquisition of Dundee Goodman Private Wealth from Dundee Securities Ltd.

  • Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), as Canadian counsel, on its acquisition of 40 per cent of Glencore Agricultural Products (Glencore Agri), valuing Glencore Agri at US$6.25-billion

  • First Asset Capital Corp in connection with its sale to CI Financial Corp
