He regularly advises employers on wrongful and constructive dismissal claims, restrictive covenants, employment standards disputes, labour relations, human rights complaints, and the development and implementation of workplace policies. He also advises corporations on the impact of employment, pension and benefits issues that arise in transactions.

In addition, de Lobe maintains an active privacy practice, advising employers on matters such as access to information requests, data breach response protocols and the impact of anti-spam legislation.

SELECT EXPERIENCE

Representative matters in which de Lobe has been involved include:

  • Successfully resolving a wrongful dismissal claim brought by a senior employee of a major oil and gas energy company
  • Providing employment and privacy-related advice to Trican Well Service Ltd. on its combination with Canyon Services Group Inc. at a transaction value of approximately C$637-million
  • Successfully upholding and enforcing a non-competition agreement for a Canadian paint and coatings manufacturer
  • Advising a multinational food-services company on collective bargaining and union decertification issues

  • Providing employment advice to Painted Pony Energy Ltd. on its acquisition of UGR Blair Creek Ltd. and its natural gas assets in the Montney in northeast British Columbia
  • Advising several multinational energy companies on compliance with access to information and anti-spam legislation
  • Acting as counsel to a major aviation company in its response to a privacy breach
