Marc’s practice includes all aspects of corporate/commercial law, with a particular emphasis on securities litigation, business crimes, anti-corruption, investigations and compliance, fintech and privacy law. Marc represents local and prominent multinational clients in a variety of industries including financial services, mining, agribusiness, infrastructure, environmental, retail and technology.

Marc has represented clients in regulatory investigations and hearings conducted by the British Columbia Securities Commission, the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) and the Insurance Council of British Columbia.

Marc has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court and the Provincial Court of British Columbia.

SELECT EXPERIENCE

Marc's experience includes:

  • Acting for institutional and individual clients in hearings and investigations by the B.C. Securities Commission in relation to alleged contraventions of the Securities Act (B.C.) including market manipulation and unlawful distributions of securities

  • Acting for financial institutions in connection with account and services disputes, regulatory compliance, production orders, and breach of privacy claims

  • Acting as litigation counsel in complex commercial arbitration proceedings, including a lengthy arbitration involving the construction of significant energy infrastructure

  • Acting for clients in connection with requests for information pursuant to the Access to Information Act (Canada) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (B.C.)

  • Acting for individual and corporate clients in a wide-range of commercial disputes including breach of contract, misrepresentation and negligence

  • Acting for local and multinational clients in disputes involving commodities and international shipping

  • Acting for investment dealers and investment advisers in the defence of broker/dealer liability claims, including allegations of unauthorized or discretionary trading, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of trust and negligence
