Equity & Diversity

Blakes has launched a variety of initiatives in recognition of the fact that equity and diversity are critical priorities for our current and future success. It starts with Blakes Equity & Diversity Committee, an operating committee that includes partners and associates from diverse backgrounds in all offices. While overseeing a Workplace Harassment Policy that ensures everyone is treated with respect and dignity, the committee is also a proactive force in the Firm. The committee works to ensure Blakes attracts and retains highly skilled lawyers and other legal and non-legal staff who fully reflect the global marketplace. [read more]

Pro Bono

Blakes has taken a leadership role in supporting pro bono legal initiatives in Canada. The Firm has a formal pro bono policy recognizing the value of work done on pro bono matters, and Blakes is dedicated to expanding its legal services for individuals and organizations that cannot otherwise obtain legal advice or representation. Community

Community is important to Blakes. We have taken a leadership role in contributing to our communities through a variety of “good works.” Blakes lawyers and staff support more than 50 charitable organizations, community agencies and volunteer boards nationwide and internationally through donations of time and money.
