At Blakes, we have many lawyers and other professionals involved in the recruitment and training of lawyers and students in the firm.

Kari Abrams is the Director of Student Recruitment & Development at Blakes. In this role, she is responsible for all aspects of the summer student and articling student programs, including the recruitment, supervision and professional development of summer students and articling students, as well as liaising with law schools.

Kari is also an active member of several internal Firm committees, including the Student Committee, the Legal Personnel Committee, the Equity & Diversity Committee and the Pro Bono Committee.

Prior to joining Blakes, Kari was a Partner in the labour and employment department at the Toronto office of a national law firm where she was also actively involved in the student program as a member of the student committee.

There is a Legal Personnel Committee at Blakes, which is responsible for recruitment and evaluation of all legal staff. Brad Berg and Thomas von Hahn are the co-chairs of the committee. The other members include:

There is a Professional Development Committee responsible for the professional development of associates and students at the Firm.  Jillian Swartz and Claude Marseille (Montréal) are the chair of the committee. The other members include:
