David Zacks is a Partner in the Financial Services Group. Since 1975, David has advised clients on matters relating to corporate law, secured transactions, corporate reorganizations and insolvency matters. David has represented borrowers and lenders locally, nationally and internationally, in real estate and project financings, public-private partnerships, syndicated loan transactions, note issuance facilities, gold loans, aircraft and other equipment financings and stand-by facilities. In addition, David has advised financial institutions on corporate and general policy matters and setting up business in Canada.

Since his early days of practice, David has written and spoken often on financial matters. Over the years, he has presented and chaired a number of courses offered by the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC. David wrote the chapter on Canada in Banks Abroad: Establishment - Operation - Supervision (Kluwer Law Publishers, 1986, London). Recently, he was a co-chair for the Negotiating and Drafting Major Business Agreements Insight Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia (March 2006; March 2009) and a speaker where he presented, and will present, a paper and spoke on "Lending Transactions." He also presented the same paper at the Annual Negotiating and Drafting Major Business Agreements Insight Conference in Calgary, Alberta (March 2005; January 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010). He recently presented a paper on project financing at a Federated Press Conference in Toronto, Ontario (April 2008).
David has been active in various professional, community and charitable organizations. He was a bencher of the Law Society from 2002 to 2010 and is now a life bencher. During his tenure as a bencher, he served as chair of the Conveyancing Practices Task Force, Ethics Committee, Audit Committee, Practice Standards Committee and Limited Liability Partnership Task Force and as a member of the Discipline Committee, Regulatory Policy Committee, Independence and Governance Committee, Executive Committee and Finance Committee.
David is a member of the Federation of Law Societies International Affairs Committee and the BC Solicitors' Legal Opinions Committee. He was a founding member and first chair of the Banking Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch) and served as a member on the BC Government Consultative Committee on the Personal Property Security Act.
In the community, David is a former trustee of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Vancouver and has served as president and director of the Richmond Country Club, as a member of the BC Children's Hospital Finance Committee, and as a director of the Camp Hatikvah Foundation, the Kajaks Track and Field Club and the Beth Tikvah Congregation.
