Jim Christie is Senior Counsel of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, and a Partner in the Financial Services Group. He was the Chairman of the Firm from 2001 to 2008 and, prior to that appointment, was the Firm's National Managing Partner for six years.
Jim acts primarily for banks and financial institutions and, for a number of years, has acted as senior counsel to the CIBC Group of Companies on many of their largest transactions. He has extensive experience in all aspects of bank regulation, secured and unsecured debt financing, project financing, debt restructuring and insolvency law.
Jim is continuously recognized in The Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business, PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook, and other publications, as one of the leading banking lawyers in Canada.
In addition to his practice, Jim has lectured and written on a number of topics in the financial services area, as well as law firm management and the changing environment in the legal profession.
Jim also serves as chairman of the board of governors of Branksome Hall Girls School in Toronto.
