Nathan Cheifetz is a Partner with the Financial Services Group. His practice includes a wide range of corporate finance, business and aviation transactions, including asset-based lending, secured and unsecured syndicated debt financing, project finance, debt restructuring, securities lending, aircraft purchases, aircraft finance and leasing, and business acquisitions and sales.
Nathan has represented Canadian and foreign corporations, pension funds, banks, lessors and other financiers in connection with complex business and finance transactions in the following sectors: manufacturing, mining, telecommunications, hotels and hospitality industry, consumer loyalty programs, travel, medical and health, and sports and entertainment. He has also acted as counsel to aircraft financiers and air operators in the field of aviation commercial and regulatory law, regularly acting for purchasers of Bombardier aircraft as well as engaging in the leasing of various Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
Some of Nathan's recent transactions include acting for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in its financing of Air Canada, acting for the lenders to Teck Resources Corporation in the restructuring of C$10-billion of credit facilities, representing noteholders of General Motors affiliates in a debt restructuring, acting for First Reserve Corporation in its acquisition of CHC Helicopter Corporation, representing creditors and lessors in the receivership of Skyservice Airlines Inc. and acting for TUI Travel PLC in its investments in Sunwing Tours Inc.
Nathan has lectured and written on a number of topics in the financial services area at various conferences and at Osgoode Hall Law School.
