We have had a significant role in most of the public-private partnership (P3) and alternative financing and procurement (AFP) projects in Canada, as well as many of the major public procurement projects throughout the world. Surrey Memorial Hospital - We are acting for EllisDon and Fengate Capital Management in connection with their bid for this major redevelopment and expansion project in Surrey, British Columbia.
Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene - We are acting for Carillion Canada Inc. in relation to their bid for this new state-of-the-art mental health facility in Ontario.
St. Joseph Healthcare - Hamilton - We are acting for Carillion Canada Inc. in relation to their bid for this new, specialized mental health and outpatient medical services facility in Ontario.
St. Joseph's Regional Mental Health - Care London/St. Thomas - We are acting for a consortium led by Lend Lease in relation to its bid for the design, construction, financing and maintenance of major patient care, teaching and research centres on several different greenfield sites in Ontario.
Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) - We are representing a consortium for the design, construction, financing and maintenance of a new university hospital complex of international calibre.
Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal Research Centre (CRCHUM) - We are representing the successful bidder for the design, construction, financing and maintenance of CRCHUM.
Residential and Long-Term Care Centres - We have been retained by the Corporation d'hébergement du Québec to act as legal adviser in the acquisition of 264 new residential and long-term care units in the province of Quebec.
Diabetes Registry and eHealth Portal Project - We are representing Infrastructure Ontario in its first non-construction project that will create an electronic health record for everyone in Ontario.
Centre for Addiction and Mental Health - We act for Carillion Canada Inc. in connection with its successful bid for this major redevelopment project in Toronto, Ontario.
Women's College Hospital - We acted for a consortium that bid on this hospital project in Toronto, Ontario.
McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) - We represented a consortium in its bid for the design, construction, financing and maintenance of a major new university hospital complex in Montréal, Quebec.
Bridgepoint Health Project - We acted for Carillion Canada Inc. in connection with its bid on this major hospital project in Toronto, Ontario.
Royal Victoria Hospital - We acted for the lenders in respect of this successful hospital project in Barrie, Ontario.
Niagara Health System - We acted for Hospital Infrastructure Partners Inc., a consortium including Carillion Canada Inc., EllisDon Corporation and LPF Infrastructure Fund (LIUNA), in connection with their bid on this project in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Woodstock General Hospital - We acted for Carillion Canada Inc. in connection with its bid on this hospital project in Woodstock, Ontario.
Royal Jubilee Hospital Project - We acted for Babcock & Brown with respect to its bid on the new Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia.

Transportation, Transit, Roads and Bridges
Circle Drive South - We acted for the City of Saskatoon with respect to the design-build of a C$300-million bridge in Saskatchewan.
Southeast Stoney Trail - We represented Chinook Roads Partnership, a partnership of subsidiaries of SNC-Lavalin Inc. and Acciona S.A. in their success bid for the southeast section of Calgary Ring Road.
Port Mann/Highway 1 Project (Gateway) - We acted for the Macquarie Group consortium in relation to its initial successful multibillion-dollar bid for the construction of a second Port Mann bridge and associated roadways in British Columbia.
Disraeli Bridge - We acted for Peter Kiewit Sons Co. and LIUNA on their bid for this bridge project in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
A25 Highway - We advised the lenders to the successful bidding consortium for the A25 Highway located in the province of Quebec.
A30 Highway - We advised the lenders to a consortium in connection with the A30 Highway located in the province of Quebec.
Calgary Ring Road - We advised a consortium led by Carillion Canada Inc., and including Peter Kiewit Sons Co. and Macquarie North America Ltd., on its bid for a section of Northeast Stoney Trail (Calgary Ring Road) in Calgary, Alberta.
Sea-to-Sky Highway - Blakes acted and continues to act for Macquarie Essential Assets Partnership, the sponsor of the S2S Transportation Group that was selected as the preferred proponent for the major Sea-to-Sky Highway improvement project and which received the CCPPP Gold Award in the project financing category for 2005.
Canada Line (RAV) Rapid Transit - We advised the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, part of a consortium with SNC Lavalin Inc. and Caisse de dépôy et placement du Québec, with respect to one of Canada's largest P3 projects, the C$1.9-billion Richmond-Airport-Vancouver Rapid Transit Line (Canada Line) in British Columbia.
We also acted as consortium counsel on the Golden Ears Bridge and Edmonton Ring Road projects.

Quinte Consolidated Courthouse - We act for Carillion in its bid for the design-build of a new courthouse in Belleville, Ontario, which will bring together existing courthouse facilities into one location.
Defence Construction Canada - Long-Term Accommodation Project - We act for Carillion in its bid to design, construct, finance and maintain a new defence facility in Ottawa, Ontario.
British Columbia RCMP Headquarters - We acted for EllisDon and LPF Infrastructure Fund (LIUNA) with respect to their bid for the new British Columbia headquarters for the RCMP.
New Data Centre Project - We advised Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Government Services on all aspects of the new Data Centre in Ontario.
Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex - We acted for EllisDon and LIUNA with respect to their bid for the new Forensics Services and Coroner's Complex in Toronto, Ontario.
Durham Consolidated Courthouse - We advised a subsidiary of EllisDon Corporation on its bid for the Durham Consolidated Courthouse in Oshawa, Ontario.
Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) - We represented the Agence des parenariats public-privé du Québec in connection with the OSM concert hall project.
Toronto South Detention Centre - We acted for Infrastructure Ontario on this new detention centre project.

Run-of-River Hydroelectric Generating Development in British Columbia - Blakes acted for GE Energy Financial Services on its investment in Toba Montrose General Partnership.
Bruce Power - Blakes acted for the Ontario Ministry of Energy in relation to an agreement between the Ontario Power Authority, Bruce Power LP and Bruce Power A LP for the C$4.25-billion restart and refurbishment of four nuclear reactors.

Water/Wastewater
Thames Water - Blakes advised the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation on its investment in the Macquarie-led consortium acquiring Thames Water from RWE AG. The transaction had an enterprise value of £8-billion.
Water, Wastewater and Solid Waste - Blakes has advised the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and several governments (Nepal, South Africa, Jordan, Mozambique, Zambia, India, Yemen and the Philippines) on private-sector participation in the management, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
