Tricia Kuhl has been selected as the winner of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) 2009 Young Lawyers Pro Bono Award for outstanding legal services benefiting the community.

"Tricia personifies what can be done in terms of pro bono" said Sarah Klinger, chair of Young Lawyers-CBA. "She is part of the solution, someone who demonstrates by example through her teaching, mentoring and tutoring. The jury was unanimous in selecting Tricia as this year's award winner."

Tricia was one of the first lawyers to become involved in the Montréal office's pro bono work by assisting the Portage Program for Drug Dependencies. Portage is an organization dedicated to providing programs for youth, new mothers and adults challenged by addiction, with treatment centres across Canada. Tricia provides legal assistance to Portage on corporate, commercial and intellectual property matters, including negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, and providing advice on trade-mark protection and licensing.

The CBA Young Lawyers Pro Bono Award recognizes outstanding pro bono publico (for the public good) legal services to the community by a Canadian lawyer who is younger than 40 years old or who has been in practice for fewer than 10 years.
