TORONTO (June 24, 2016)

Paul Schabas was elected to lead The Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) as the 66th Treasurer by its governing body on June 23, 2016.

Bradley Berg was elected President of The Advocates’ Society in a peer-based vote on June 16, 2016.

As Treasurer, Paul is the highest elected official of the LSUC, which regulates Ontario’s lawyers and paralegals in the public interest. The Treasurer presides over Convocation, the LSUC’s governing board, chairing and setting the agenda for its meetings and establishing Convocation committees. Treasurers generally serve
two terms.

As President, Bradley will lead this national association of more than 5,400 judges, lawyers and advocates from all practice areas. The President oversees the Society’s mandate to promote excellence in the profession and address issues affecting litigation practice across the country. The Advocates’ Society is a not-for-profit association established in 1963 and Canada’s premier advocacy skills training provider.

Paul and Bradley are members of the Blakes Litigation & Dispute Resolution group, both practising in the Firm’s Toronto office. Bradley also serves as the practice group leader for the Toronto Litigation group.
