Pei's practice focuses on food, health, cosmetic and consumer products, and the labelling, marketing and advertising of these and other regulated products. She also provides advice in relation to consumer protection issues, access-to-information law and healthcare compliance matters.

Pei regularly assists clients in a variety of industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, life sciences, cosmetic, retail, and consumer goods sectors, and helps them navigate complex compliance regimes relating to licensing, product classification, claims substantiation and sales and marketing restrictions. She also has significant experience with access-to-information and freedom-of-information requests involving federal and provincial bodies, and has developed expertise in consumer protection issues related to online sales.

In the area of marketing and advertising, Pei regularly advises clients on misleading advertising, contests and promotions, and various matters relating to the execution of online and offline media campaigns. She has drafted and negotiated various sponsorship and marketing agreements, including arrangements involving social media influencers. Pei also advises clients on compliance with Canada’s anti-spam legislation.

Pei has completed a secondment at the Canadian offices of a major beverage manufacturer.

  • Advising clients on healthcare compliance matters, including interactions and business arrangements with healthcare professionals

  • Reviewing e-commerce portals for compliance with marketing and consumer protection disclosures

  • Helping foreign clients adapt their product formulation and packaging for Canadian regulatory compliance

  • Assisting retail and consumer product companies with product recalls and regulatory reporting requirements
