Saud has experience in a wide variety of corporate and commercial legal matters both inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Saud served as special counsel and later general attorney for Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco). He also advised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a number of capacities, including as legal adviser to the Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, general counsel to the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, and a member of the Kingdom's negotiation team for the implementation of the Kingdom's Natural Gas Initiative

Saud served as chairman of the legal defence team of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which successfully handled two U.S. antitrust class action cases brought against OPEC. He has successfully represented the Kingdom in numerous sovereign immunity cases in the U.S., U.K. and Canada, and is currently an outside legal adviser to the Kingdom's Consultative (Shura) Council.

Saud has appeared before all levels of courts in the Kingdom handling commercial and administrative litigation as well as semi-judicial committees, including CMA and banking. In addition, he has served as an arbitrator and expert witness in local and international arbitration tribunals. He also participated as legal counsel and a member of the team negotiating the Kingdom's accession to the World Trade Organization.

Very familiar with the Western-style practice of law, Saud has worked for a large and prominent New York City law firm and a well-known Houston law firm before embarking on a career with Saudi Aramco.


In 2001, Saud was awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal (First Order) for his achievements and national contributions. In 1991, he was awarded the Gulf War Medal for his volunteer work.
