Erin's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and arbitration, and regulatory defence. She has specializations in procurement litigation and securities regulatory investigation and defence. Erin has extensive experience advising and acting for clients across a variety of industries in business disputes, defence of regulatory charges, internal and regulatory investigations, constitutional law matters, and complex contractual disputes.

Erin also has a specialization in addressing complex questions of conflict of laws in litigation and transactions involving cross-border issues. She has experience defending defamation claims and in relation to orders restricting public access to the courts.

Erin has appeared as counsel at all levels of courts in Ontario, at the Supreme Court of Canada and at the Federal Court of Canada, as well as before arbitration panels and administrative tribunals.


A representative list of Erin’s experience includes:

  • Advising on and conducting internal investigations, including assessment of potential regulatory breaches and litigation risk, resolutions and ongoing risk management

  • Defending persons alleged to have committed regulatory offences, including before the Ontario Court of Justice and Ontario Securities Commission

  • Representing procuring agencies in defence of claims by unsuccessful bidders in RFP processes

  • Acting for a party to an arbitration concerning alleged breach of a P3 contract

  • Acting for leading corporations in fraud recovery actions, including obtaining and enforcing Mareva injunctions and certificates of pending litigation

  • Representing a leading corporation in a multimillion-dollar contractual dispute between limited partners concerning informational entitlements and annual distributions

  • Counsel to Torstar Corp. in Grant v. Torstar, in which the Supreme Court of Canada adopted a new defence to libel, public interest responsible communication
