About David

David is a member of the Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment group at Blakes. David's practice focuses on advising clients on all aspects of competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, marketing and distribution practices, criminal and civil investigations, and compliance matters. He also advises on foreign investment merger review under the Investment Canada Act, including "net benefit" and national security reviews, and was recognized as one of the top "40 under 40" foreign investment lawyers worldwide by Global Competition Review in 2023. David has advised clients in a wide range of sectors, including consumer goods, energy, communications, financial services, chemicals, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and transportation.

David's competition law practice is complemented by a master's degree in economics from the University of Toronto. In addition, David is vice-chair of the Mergers Committee of the Canadian Bar Association's National Competition Law and Foreign Investment Review Section.

David is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and is vice-chair of the Mergers Committee of the Canadian Bar Association's National Competition Law and Foreign Investment Review Section. He is also a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
