We are pleased to announce that Blakes has been presented with a 2016 Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Award. The award recognizes Lex Mundi law firms for providing invaluable pro bono legal services to the Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to help strengthen global social entrepreneurship and improve the lives of the world’s poor and disenfranchised.
Since 2015, Blakes has been supporting the Foundation on establishing a Canadian not-for-profit corporation, Convergence Blended Finance, Inc., to connect, develop and support blended finance investments in developing countries. Blakes has also taken the lead in coordinating other pro bono efforts in support of Convergence across the Lex Mundi network with lawyers in the U.S., the U.K., Netherlands, Switzerland, Hong Kong, South Africa and other jurisdictions. We are also working on registering Convergence with the Ontario Securities Commission in an effort to roll out its full capabilities.
