SIR/E-Discovery

SIR/E-Discovery
SIR/E-Discovery

A supplementary information request (SIR) is a detailed information request issued by the Competition Bureau as part of a merger review. Responding to an SIR is a critical part of gaining clearance for a complex merger and requires a team of specialized and experienced counsel.

The Blakes Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment group, repeatedly acknowledged as a leading competition practice in Canada, has successfully guided its clients through SIR processes for many of the most high-profile and complex transactions in Canadian history (beginning in 2009 with the first SIR to have been issued by the Bureau).

Our industry-leading team is adept at using cost-effective in-house solutions to comply with an SIR, while at the same time interfacing seamlessly with third-party e-discovery vendors when necessary. Our extensive SIR experience has afforded us an unmatched understanding of the Bureau’s standards and processes, allowing us to avoid the common pitfalls associated with SIR compliance.

We have pioneered innovative solutions and approaches to SIR compliance that have reduced transaction timelines and related costs, all while providing our clients with the timely, practical and strategic advice that is our signature.
