Recent Developments and Trends in Executive Compensation
Toronto, October 3, 2018

Please join us for a complimentary seminar as speakers from Mercer Canada Limited and the Blakes Executive Compensation and Employment & Labour groups discuss current issues affecting the design and taxation of executive compensation arrangements as well as managing executive transitions.

Topics:

  • Evolving Trends in Executive Compensation
Increasing shareholder demands are raising the bar and broadening the scope for compensation committees. In this session, Mercer will discuss how management can support the needs of the committee, while considering trends arising from the last proxy season, evolving shareholder expectations and influence from proxy advisory firms.
  • Executive Transitions and Terminations
Drawing from extensive experience dealing with transfers, retirements, resignations and employer-initiated terminations of senior executives, Blakes will discuss potential reputational and legal risks to employers associated with these executive changes, with a focus on employment law implications.
  • Performance Measurement and Goal Setting
Beyond benchmarking and market prevalence, what is truly appropriate for your organization? Mercer will discuss how to assess performance measurement linkage with drivers of shareholder value and go-forward business strategy as well as setting appropriate goals, looking at both historical and prospective trends and expectations.
  • Tax and Plan Design Considerations Relating to Performance Measurement and Goal Setting
