Diversity and inclusion have become buzzwords in business, but organizations sometimes fall short in reflecting and representing the broader population within which they work. Feeling like you belong, knowing that you will be included and seeing your work community as “your” community are what matters. How do we achieve this sense of community and belonging? Through this interactive session, participants will better understand some of the biases they may be holding that affect their interactions with others and learn strategies for tackling unconscious bias.
This program will be led by Tanya (Toni) De Mello. With a background comprising finance, management consulting and law, Toni has spent much of her career focusing on, and researching, unconscious bias. She is a human rights lawyer and a certified coach and mediator. In her current role, she teaches at Ryerson University and is their Director of Human Rights.
In addition to founding two NGOs, Tanya has served in the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and the World Food Programme in Geneva, Senegal and Colombia.
