Blakes Diversity and Inclusion Pre-Law Summer Student Program

The Blakes Diversity and Inclusion Pre-Law Summer Student Program was established to offer an opportunity to an undergraduate student from York University, the University of Toronto, or Ryerson University to gain exposure to the practice of law and to focus on related diversity and inclusion initiatives.  The TD Bank Group (TD) and Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) both share a strong commitment to establishing a workplace that is rich in perspectives, backgrounds and cultures and we are very pleased to again this year extend the program to include a term with TD as well as with Blakes.
 
The successful Pre-Law Summer Student will work virtually for 4 weeks in the Blakes Toronto office and 4 weeks in the TD Legal department, with a focus on diversity and inclusion initiatives and projects at both organizations.
 
The goal of this Program is to provide an opportunity for an undergraduate student who is considering law school to gain work experience performing a variety of tasks in a law firm environment and a business environment, to observe lawyers in the workplace and to work on specific projects in the areas of diversity and inclusion.

Who Can Apply?
This Program is open exclusively to undergraduate students attending York University, the University of Toronto, or Ryerson University.

Structure of the Program
The Program will run for 8 weeks starting in June 2022 and is a paid internship. We expect that the program will be done as a hybrid between remote work and some in person, consistent with return-to-work policies of Blakes and TD.

Process
Only successful candidates who have been selected for an interview will be contacted.  The interview may take place by video-conference or by telephone with representatives of TD and Blakes.
