Platform Specialist

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, is currently looking for a Platform Specialist to join the Information Technology department in the Toronto office.

The Platform Specialist is responsible for planning, analyzing, implementing and maintaining firmwide software systems across the Windows desktop, Server and Citrix platforms. This includes supporting clients, providing innovative solutions to complex software issues to facilitate Firm business and ensuring business continuity of mission critical applications. This position reports directly to the Director, Applications Development & Platform Services.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is required
Minimum of five years of experience with integrating/supporting different application architectures (e.g., Azure, client/server, multi-tier, SQL, Citrix, IIS/web, etc.) and the desktop productivity suite typically found in a law firm
Experience with SQL server administration and programming are critical to the role
Microsoft Office Specialist Certification and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification in application area of specialization are preferred

Skills and Abilities:

Expertise in installing and configuring SQL Server 2014-2022 on Windows platforms using industry-accepted best practices
Expertise in developing and troubleshooting complex SQL queries and other development objects such as stored procedures, views, triggers, etc.
Expertise in SQL admin functions such as assigning security roles and maintaining backup and restore
Expertise in workflow and data integration solutions such as Power Automate, Intapp Integrate/Flow or similar solutions
Expertise supporting and administrating web-based applications (IIS)
Exposure to the Power Platform as an administrator is an asset
Exposure to Intapp Open is an asset
Exposure to enterprise search technologies and an understanding of the basic concepts
Experience in troubleshooting and resolving end-user issues
Ability to motivate peers by taking ownership and a leadership role in the completion of initiatives
Understanding of project management methodology as it relates to application delivery
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A self-starter with the ability to deliver on tight deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to adapt to changes and implementation of new processes and systems
Ability to multitask and work under pressure both in a team environment and independently
Strong service orientation and work ethic
Excellent client service for lawyers and staff, which is critical to our success as a Firm
