COVID-19 Updates

Blakes has transitioned to a predominantly remote working infrastructure across all of our offices. We are working closely with our clients across Canada and the globe to assist them in developing strategic solutions, managing risk and responding to disruptions to their operations.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted each of us on a personal and professional level. As with other Canadian and global organizations, we have been carefully monitoring the accelerating developments around the world and in our communities and markets. While we have been focused on the health of our colleagues, clients, families and communities, we have also been making adjustments to our operations, including deploying remote service delivery, to continue to deliver the highest level of service to our clients. Since the onset of concerns about COVID-19 in China, we have been consulting with external advisers, including a medical and infectious disease expert, and have been implementing recommended health protocols.

This weekend, we learned that one of our Toronto-based colleagues tested positive for COVID-19. Our colleague, who thankfully is only experiencing mild illness, had recently travelled. This person has not had contact with clients since late February, and has only been in the office on one day since that time - March 5, before symptoms first emerged. We have implemented additional, targeted cleaning of our spaces in the past 24 hours and have taken all prudent precautions, including asking those who worked on the same floor as our affected colleague to work from home and self-monitor or self-isolate, as appropriate and consistent with public health standards.

We are well prepared to operate in dynamic market circumstances, and have full remote functionality to supplement our other capabilities to serve our clients. Over the past several months, we have enhanced and tested our remote systems, and know that we can rely on our agile operations to provide uncompromising client service at the highest levels, whether our people are in the office or working remotely.
