Cass joins Blakes as an Articling Student. He obtained a J.D. from the University of Calgary, where he received the highest class standing in his final year of law school. Cass was awarded the C. Anne Calverley Prize for highest aggregate standing in Basic Tax and Corporate Tax, and the W.G. Brown Q.C. Prize in Advanced Oil and Gas Law.
Prior to law school, Cass obtained a BASc in Chemical Engineering (First Class Honours) from Queen’s University. As an engineer-in-training, he worked for several oil and gas producers and a large chemical manufacturer.
In his spare time, Cass works as a video coach/scout for the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League and has a passion for finance. He is currently a CFA Level II Candidate.
