Ali's practice focuses on financial services in the areas of banking and commercial lending transactions, including debt financing, acquisition finance, project finance and related transactional work. She also assists clients with general corporate and commercial matters.
Ali has experience representing both borrowers and lending institutions in connection with secured and unsecured financing transactions, including both bilateral and syndicated loan transactions.
Prior to joining Blakes, Ali practiced in the corporate and commercial group at a large full-service law firm in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ali acted for various lender clients including banks, credit unions, and mortgage brokers in relation to the provision of operating loan facilities, term loan facilities and subordinated debt facilities, as well as commercial mortgage loans securing industrial, commercial and multi-tenant residential properties. Ali also acted for the persons, partnerships, limited partnerships, co-ownership syndicates and corporations to whom such loan facilities are provided, assisting those borrowers in the structuring of their borrowing entity, negotiating on their behalf the terms of any borrowing or loan facilities with financial institutions, and completing those loan transactions.
