Inventys Thermal Technologies Inc., 2019 BCSC 1416 - Counsel for the company where the Court found that the business decisions made by the Company did not amount to oppressive conduct under the Canada Business Corporations Act as the actions did not target the former Chief Executive Officer and founding shareholder

  • Employment counsel to Atlantic Gold Corporation on its C$208-million sale to St. Barbara Limited

  • Employment counsel to Banco Santander, S.A. in connection with its acquisition of Carfinco Financial Group Inc.'s Canadian business for approximately C$298-million by way of plan of arrangement

  • Counsel on Hartslief v. Terra Nova Royalty Corporation, 2013 BCCA 417, the British Columbia Court of Appeal's recent statement on the authority of counsel to enter into binding settlement agreements on behalf of their clients

  • Successfully resolving wrongful dismissal proceedings, human rights complaints and employment standards matters on behalf of employers

  • Working closely with clients to develop and implement practical strategies related to cyber threats and data breaches including acting as “breach counsel” for clients following cybersecurity incidents impacting their businesses

  • Advising on and conducting workplace investigations relating to privacy breaches, occupational health and safety matters and bullying and harassment allegations

  • Regularly advising clients in all aspects of privacy law, including drafting privacy policies, complaint procedures, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act requests, compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act and assisting clients with complaints and inquiries before the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia

Professional Activities

Eleni has authored and co-authored a number of papers, and has spoken to many groups on legal topics within her areas of expertise, including training seminars for other lawyers and members of the public. Eleni is active on a number of Firm committees including the National Pro Bono Committee (as Co-chair) and the Vancouver Office's Student Committee and Health and Safety Committee (as Co-chair). As a key part of her practice, Eleni provides ongoing advice to not-for-profit organizations and individuals on a pro bono basis as part of the Firm's award-winning pro bono program.

Eleni's demonstrated commitment to excellence through leadership and mentoring was recently recognized as the recipient of the Vancouver office's inaugural Mentorship Award in 2015.
