Jamie is Co-Head of the Blakes Private Equity Group, practicing Canadian corporate and securities law with a focus on in-bound Canadian cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. He is also a relationship partner for a number of the Firm's international and Canadian private equity and corporate clients and assists clients with the structuring and implementation of their Canadian business and portfolio company expansion activities. Jamie is repeatedly recognized as a leading Canadian M&A lawyer in Who's Who Legal: M&A and Governance and the strength of his Blakes New York cross-border Canadian private equity practice has been consistently noted by Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
In his mergers and acquisitions practice, Jamie regularly acts for private equity funds, strategic buyers, hedge funds and investment banks with respect to Canadian public and private acquisition and investment transactions. He also advises U.S., Canadian and international private equity sponsors and some of the largest North American pension plans in their private equity fund investment and co-investment transactions and in respect of regulatory and securities matters relating to sponsor fundraising in Canada.
Jamie is one of the partners responsible for the Firm’s U.S. Initiative and has been a Canadian cross-border M&A and private equity specialist for over 15 years, having practiced law in Toronto prior to moving to New York in 2005.
