Jamie is regularly retained by U.S. and international private equity sponsors and corporations as lead Canadian counsel for M&A and private equity investment transactions, including most recently, among others, American Securities, Energy Capital Partners, Global Infrastructure Partners, Alterra/Intrawest, Providence Equity, Apax Partners, Warburg Pincus, SEB Private Equity, EQT Partners, Blue Sea Capital and Centerbridge Partners.

In addition, Jamie’s private equity fund formation and co-investment practice focusses on acting as lead Canadian counsel to U.S. and international private equity sponsors in respect of their fundraising activities, including advising with respect to the Canadian securities and investment fund registration requirements for offerings to Canadian investors as well acting as lead counsel to Canadian public pension plans on global co-investment transactions.

Professional Activities

Jamie is a member of the Canadian, Ontario and American Bar Associations and is on the board of the Canadian Association of New York. He was an issue group leader of the American Bar Association's Working Group for the 2018, 2015 and 2013 Canadian Public Target M&A Deal Points Studies. He was also a Working Group member of the American Bar Association's 2016 Canadian Private Target Mergers & Acquisitions Deal Points Study as well as the 2014 and 2012 studies.
