  • Heartland Generation Ltd., an affiliate of Energy Capital Partners, on its C$835-million acquisition of Canadian Utilities Ltd.’s natural gas and coal electricity generation interests in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario, the largest private equity investment in the energy sector in 2019 in Canada

  • Kinder Morgan Canada Limited on its proposed C$2.3-billion acquisition by Pembina Pipeline Corporation

  • WestJet Airlines Ltd. on its acquisition by Onex Corporation for approximately C$5-billion

  • ClearStream Energy Services Inc. on its acquisition of certain assets from AECOM Production Services Ltd. and concurrent equity financing

  • Trinidad Drilling Ltd. with respect to the hostile take-over bid made by Ensign Energy Services Inc.

  • Kinder Morgan Canada on its C$4.5-billion sale of the Trans Mountain Pipeline system and expansion project to the Government of Canada

  • International Petroleum Corporation in connection with its acquisition of BlackPearl Resources Inc. for approximately C$675-million

  • Laricina Energy Ltd. in its support of the take-over bid by Canadian Natural Resources Limited for all common shares and follow on change of control offer for Laricina’s senior notes

  • Trican Well Service Ltd. on its combination with Canyon Services Group Inc. at a transaction value of approximately C$637-million

  • Painted Pony Energy Ltd. on its acquisition of UGR Blair Creek Ltd. and its natural gas assets in the Montney in northeast British Columbia

Professional Activities

de Lobe is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers. He is currently the vice chair of the Privacy Committee of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers.

de Lobe is also an active volunteer and has previously coached the University of Calgary Faculty of Law's team for the Tulane National Baseball Arbitration Competition.
