  • Brink’s Canada Limited in connection with its multi-year agreement with Canopy Growth Corporation to provide secure logistics and cash management services

  • Subversive Capital Acquisition Corp. (now TPCO Holding Corp.) on its acquisition of CMG Partners, Inc. (Caliva) and Left Coast Ventures, Inc. (LCV) and partnership with Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Roc Nation

  • Canadian counsel to the initial purchasers for Aphria Inc.’s US$300-million private placement of 5.25 per cent convertible senior notes due 2024

  • Mera Cannabis Corp. in connection with its German supply agreement with HM HerbaMedica GmBH

  • Seven Leaf Med in connection with its successful licence application under the ACMPR for its production facility on Akwesasne Mohawk Nation territory

  • TerrAscend Corp. in connection with its sales and distribution agreement with iuvo Therapeutics GmbH, a German pharmaceutical wholesaler

  • The Hunny Pot Cannabis Co. and various other retailers (including franchisees) across Canada, with licensing, acquisition and expansion strategies

Recent confidential matters include acting as lead regulatory and corporate counsel to various:

  • Canadian licensed producers of cannabis (marijuana) and hemp on a broad number of matters, including commercial transactions, white label agreements, licensing agreements, import/export arrangements (including hemp-derived CBD), regulatory matters (including edibles, extracts and topicals) and promotional requirements

  • Canadian retail cannabis companies on commercial, regulatory and promotional matters

  • First Nations communities and businesses on the development of and compliance with cannabis licensing frameworks

  • Cannabis accessory manufacturers on commercial, regulatory and promotional matters, including entry strategies

  • Celebrity, sport and media personalities in relation to intellectual property licensing and services agreements

  • Advertising agencies, content creators and media companies on their regulatory compliance strategies

  • Clients in the health-care industry on initiatives and programs with patients or physicians, health-care compliance and clinical trials, as well as consumer complaint, recall and product liability matters

Professional Activities

Chris is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association.

He has taught cannabis law and regulation at a major university and is routinely called upon as a thought leader in the cannabis industry, speaking at industry events and contributing to publications across Canada.
