In the eighth edition of the Blakes Board Report, we continue our mission to illuminate the path for women general counsel (GCs) aspiring to board leadership and introduce a critical new layer to our data analysis.
For the first time, our research expands beyond the S&P/TSX Composite Index to include all TSX corporate issuers. This broader lens provides a more complete view of where women GCs are gaining ground and where new doors may be opening. It also establishes a new benchmark for measuring future progress, enabling us to track both opportunity and inclusion across Canada’s entire public company landscape.
But the numbers are only part of the story. The report highlights the voices of women across Canada’s legal and board community — capturing the intention, persistence and perspective behind every board seat earned. What emerges is a clearer picture of how board service and executive leadership move forward together. Our goal is simple: to inform, inspire and equip the next generation of women GCs to own their board journey with purpose and confidence.
