About Alexis

Alexis focuses primarily on syndicated debt, structured financing and distressed financings, acting for both domestic and international financiers and debtors. He has significant experience with structuring and documenting distressed financings, equipment financings, leveraged financings, asset-based financings, franchise financing arrangements, margin loans, securitizations, receivables financings and hotel financings.

Alexis is the co-leader of the Firm’s Public Sector Crisis & Compliance group. He advises on public and political law issues, including lobbying matters, gifting rules, conflict of interest regimes, access to information disclosures, election finance rules and more.

Alexis has served as an adjunct professor of public law and decision-making at Osgoode Hall Law School and has been a Law Society lecturer on doing business with the Canadian public sector. He has also served as a political strategist for several current and former senior federal, provincial and municipal public-office holders.

  • Financing parties in providing debt financing in respect of Platinum Equity's acquisition of Husky Injection Molding Systems from Berkshire Partners and OMERS Private Equity for C$4.95-billion

  • Aareal Bank AG in connection with a C$716-million syndicated financing for a group of Canadian hotels

  • A leading Canadian manufacturer on a C$1.2-billion leveraged financing from a syndicate of lenders

  • A syndicate of lenders on a leveraged financing in respect of a major Canadian mineral company

  • A leading Canadian retailer on asset-backed revolving credit facilities

  • A leading Canadian forestry company on an asset-based financing by a global financing company

  • A leading global finance company on equipment financings to a prominent Canadian manufacturer

  • A leading vehicle manufacturer and global financial institution on the securitization of vehicle leases

  • A leading securitization trust, as purchaser, and a major insurance company, as investor on the securitization of receivables, with a vehicle financing company as seller

  • A leading transportation company on a vehicle acquisition financing facility

  • Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership on an investment grade financing provided by a syndicate led by the Bank of Nova Scotia

  • Williams Scotsman Corporation on a revolving credit facility transaction in connection with the US$1.2-billion acquisition of Modular Space Holdings, Inc.
