Blakes Wins Canada’s Top Employers for Young People Award

Blakes is proud to announce that we have once again been named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2022, in recognition of the Firm’s training and resources for young professionals.  

“Our investment in young people reflects how much we value their fresh, diverse perspectives and their contributions to innovation at Blakes,” said Mary Jackson, the Firm’s Chief Professional Resources Officer. “We are proud to be recognized for providing young professionals with a strong foundation to develop successful, fulfilling careers.” 

Blakes runs the largest law student program in Canada. In the past year, the Firm hired 95 summer students and 70 articling students across our Canadian offices. In addition, Blakes has several internships that provide Black, Indigenous and other students from diverse backgrounds with experience in a business law environment. Our outreach efforts on our administrative teams include hiring and training co-op students from several colleges and universities. 

Law students benefit from a comprehensive orientation program, involved mentorship and introductions to a variety of practice areas. Administrative co-op students are paired with a mentor who provides on-the-job training and helps them build relationships at the Firm. During the pandemic, Blakes has adapted our social and educational events to a virtual setting to ensure that all our students continue to have opportunities to get to know each other and interact with lawyers and staff across the Firm.
