Manager, Student Programs & EDI Initiatives

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) is looking for a professional to join the Vancouver office as Manager, Student Programs, Diversity & Inclusion.

We are seeking a junior lawyer who possesses great people skills and is passionate about recruitment, career development and equity, diversity and inclusion (“EDI”). The Manager, Student Programs, Diversity & Inclusion will support the Director of Legal Personnel & Professional Development, whose mandate includes overseeing the hiring, mentoring, training, work assignment and review processes for students and associates.

The Manager will work closely with the Director and Firm committees to oversee the Vancouver office’s student program. In addition, the Manager will also focus on EDI initiatives for the Vancouver office, collaborating with Partners, relevant committees and our National Diversity & Inclusion Counsel.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • LLB/JD with at least two years of experience practising in a medium or large firm;
  • Demonstrated interest in recruitment, career development and equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI); and
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, an innovative mindset, an orientation toward and facility with technology, developed leadership skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, discretion in handling sensitive information, the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team across the Firm.
  • Salary range: $125,000 to $150,000
