Alicia Howse Articling Student | Montréal

About Alicia

Alicia is an Articling Student at Blakes. She returns to Blakes after first joining the Firm as a Summer Student in 2024. In the summer of 2025, she was seconded to an energy company developing green hydrogen projects through renewable hydroelectric, solar and wind power.

Alicia obtained a bachelor of civil law and a juris doctor from McGill University. During her law studies, she participated in the Willms & Shier Environmental Law Moot and worked as a researcher for a sustainable finance initiative. Alicia also worked for an international commission mandated with ensuring the effective enforcement of environmental legislation in North America, pursuant to the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). She also spent a semester abroad studying at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

Prior to studying law, Alicia obtained a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Ottawa. As part of the co-op program, Alicia worked for regional and federal regulators, as well as in the natural resources transformation industry.

Alicia is fluent in English and French.
