About Anne-Catherine

Anne-Catherine practices environmental and Indigenous law and has provided strategic advice across Canada in these areas, notably in the emergency response, contaminated sites and project development contexts. Her practice covers all aspects of environmental law and she  takes a practical approach to advising clients on environmental obligations and risks.

She has extensive experience advising federal undertakings, notably railways and pipelines, on jurisdictional considerations of environmental legislation and permitting regimes. She has also been involved in a broad range of transactions, many of which involved complex environmental issues requiring novel solutions to allocate risk. She has also provided advice to industry on complex land title issues, business dealings with Indigenous communities, historical claims and project development.

Anne-Catherine started her career at Blakes as an Articling Student and, before rejoining the Firm, was a lawyer at a Class I railway responsible for environmental and Indigenous law matters across Canada.

Anne-Catherine is fluent in French and English.

Professional Activities

Anne-Catherine taught Environmental Law at McGill University’s Faculty of Law for several years and has been a frequent speaker and panellist on environmental law topics. She was the president of the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Law Section of the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association, a member of the National Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, and chair and vice-chair of committees of the Section on Environmental, Energy and Resources of the American Bar Association.
