Aryo's practice encompasses all aspects of commercial reorganizations, financial restructurings, distressed mergers and acquisitions, secured debt enforcement and insolvency matters, with a particular focus on complex and multifaceted cross-border restructuring mandates.

Aryo regularly acts as counsel and trusted advisor to secured creditors, debtors, court officers and other key stakeholders in some of Canada's most complex and high-profile domestic and cross-border restructurings, distressed acquisitions and insolvency litigation.

  • The purchaser in the cross-border Chapter 11/CCAA recognition proceedings of David’s Bridal (retail)

  • The junior DIP Lender in connection with the cross-border Chapter 11/CCAA recognition proceedings of Yellow Corporation (logistics/transportation)

  • The representative of the initial purchasers in connection with the US$3.85-billion note offering by Ligado Networks, done in furtherance of a financial restructuring (telecommunications)

  • The UK incorporated All Saints USA in the multi-jurisdictional restructuring of its lease portfolio (retail)

  • The court-appointed monitor in the insolvency proceedings of JTI-Macdonald Corp. involving over C$600-billion of claims asserted against the tobacco industry (manufacturing/mass tort)

  • syncreon Group B.V. and its Canadian affiliates in the cross-border balance sheet restructuring of C$1.1-billion of funded debt (logistics/transportation)

  • The debtors in the CCAA proceedings of Carillion Canada Inc., Carillion Construction Inc., Canada Holdings Inc., Carillion Canada Finance Corp. and Carillion Pacific Construction Inc. (construction and services)
