About Emily

Emily advises clients on a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, commercial leasing, financing, development, marketing, subdivision, and other related real property transactions across a range of industries.

Prior to joining Blakes, Emily practised at a large international law firm in Vancouver, where she gained extensive experience supporting complex commercial real estate transactions for a variety of clients. Emily takes a practical, detail-oriented approach to helping clients navigate transactions and achieve their business objectives.

  • An established British Columbia-based lumber manufacturer on the acquisition of a lumber mill and associated operations in Princeton, British Columbia

  • A court-appointed receiver and manager in the receivership of a luxury boutique hotel in Richmond, British Columbia, involving C$100-million in debt, including asset disposition, creditor relations, operational matters, and regulatory compliance

  • A leading private equity firm as Canadian counsel on its affiliates’ C$3.45-billion acquisition of a building products company

  • A leading Western Canadian real estate development and investment company on the ongoing management of its industrial and retail property portfolios across Western Canada and Quebec, including real estate acquisitions and dispositions, leasing matters, and landlord-tenant disputes

  • A major Canadian energy and fuel retailer on the acquisition of retail fuel assets across Canada

  • A leading British Columbia real estate developer on the redevelopment of a major Richmond, British Columbia shopping centre, involving a mixed-use airspace development comprising eight residential towers, more than 1,100 market and affordable housing units, commercial and retail components, and syndicated financing arrangements
