Representative matters in which Mitchell has been involved include:

• Successfully representing Inuvialuit Regional Corporation in two applications in the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories to stay two actions in favour of arbitration and to strike an invalid lien that had been registered on the client’s construction project (decisions reported at Mid-West Design & Construction Ltd. v. IRC et al., 2025 NWTSC 36)

• Acting for construction clients in defending builders' liens claims

• Acting for a registered charity in a claim for wrongful use of its trade name and branding

• Assisting with defending shareholder claims for oppression

• Assisting with a successful plan of arrangement to carry out a corporate amalgamation

• Assisting with an action for constructive dismissal

• Assisting with a C$65-million expedited private arbitration that progressed from notice of arbitration to final award within 2.5 months

Mitchell is a member of the Law Society of Alberta. He also volunteers with the King's Bench Amicus Program and Civil Claims Duty Counsel Program, where he provides pro bono legal advice to underrepresented litigants.
