Before joining Blakes, Marshall practised in the Canadian mergers and acquisitions group at a preeminent New York-based international law firm.

  • A U.S. energy equipment and services company in its US$5.3-billion acquisition of the 50% stake it did not already own of an energy equipment manufacturing joint venture from their joint venture partner

  • A U.S.-listed pharmaceutical company in its US$1.25-billion acquisition by another U.S.-listed pharmaceutical company

  • A Canadian engineering consulting firm in its US$1.780-billion acquisition of an American engineering firm in the power & energy space

  • A U.S. multinational firm in its acquisition of a Canadian petfood company for an undisclosed amount

Capital Markets

  • The underwriters on the largest IPO in history, SpaceX's US$86-billion initial public offering, including a public prospectus offering in Canada

  • Syndicate of underwriters in connection with Extendicare Inc.'s inaugural senior unsecured notes offering by private placement of C$450-million aggregate principal amount of notes bearing interest at 4.345% maturing in April 2031

  • GO Residential Operating LLC in connection with its C$325-million inaugural senior secured debenture offering

  • A U.S.-based real estate investment trust in connection with its US$410-million initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange and associated US$90-million private placement to a cornerstone investor
