About Gabriel

Gabriel maintains a hybrid practice comprising of anti-bribery, corruption and white collar criminal investigations as well as general commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He is a member of the Business Crimes, Investigations & Compliance group and has experience assisting clients with internal investigations, anti-bribery and corruption issues.

Gabriel has successfully represented clients before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Alberta Court of King's Bench and has assisted with matters at all levels of court in Alberta. He also has experience assisting with complex domestic and international arbitration matters, including appearing before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes in an international corruption matter.

Prior to joining Blakes, Gabriel articled and worked as a litigation associate at a leading global law firm.

  • Representing an international pipeline manufacturer in various product liability actions

  • Representing energy companies with respect to land and landowner disputes

  • Representing an international power corporation with respect to a power generation facility dispute

  • Representing various private corporations regarding shareholder disputes

  • Representing a professional services firm with respect to a professional negligence dispute

  • Representing an international real estate development firm regarding a major commercial development dispute

  • Representing financial institutions regarding various commercial disputes

  • Representing international insurance companies regarding coverage disputes, interpretation of policy provisions and liability coverage

  • Representing an investment firm regarding the recovery of investment funds

Professional Activities

Gabriel volunteers with the Civil Claims Duty Counsel Program and the King's Bench Amicus Program, where he provides pro bono legal services to unrepresented litigants.

He is also a member of the Law Society of Alberta.
