About Callin

Callin’s practice involves all aspects of commercial litigation and arbitration with an emphasis on complex contract, construction, environmental and energy disputes. She has experience in a variety of other areas, including insurance matters and securities litigation.

Callin regularly acts for clients in matters at all level of court in Alberta. She has also acted for clients in matters before the British Colombia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario courts. Callin has also represented a client in a matter before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Select Experience

Energy and Construction Litigation and Arbitration

  • Arbitration counsel in a number of arbitrations involving the operation of oil and gas facilities

  • Arbitration counsel in arbitrations related to claims of project delays and cost overruns in the construction of energy infrastructure

  • Litigation counsel to a Canadian energy company in a large construction litigation matter arising from a pipeline spill in Manitoba

  • Litigation counsel for a renewables company in defending an application for leave to appeal the approval of a wind farm project, for which leave was successfully denied

Commercial Litigation and Arbitration

  • Routinely acts for Schedule 1 Canadian banks in a variety of disputes

  • Successfully defended an investment dealer against a claim on the basis of jurisdiction in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice

  • Acted for a commercial tenant in a dispute before the Alberta Court of King's Bench concerning a claim alleging breach of contract

  • Assisted a pro bono client in successfully obtaining a Default Judgment Order from the Alberta Court of King's Bench in a matter relating to theft and fraudulent credit card transactions

Professional Activities

Callin is a member of the Law Society of Alberta.

Callin currently sits on the board of directors for the Cochrane & Area Humane Society. She also regularly volunteers her time providing pro bono legal services to the public through the Civil Claims Duty Counsel Project and the Court of King's Bench Amicus Project.
